wjfe Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Hi I'm new to Galaxys (well mine is really a Sharan)(1.9tdi diesel). I've noticed an anoying tick from the glove box area. The ticking starts about five minutes after start up, and it does not respond to engine revs, just ticks along, sometimes slowly, sometimes faster. If I open the glove box the ticks get louder, as though its something inside the car, rather than in the engine bay. I've not investigated it yet, Planned to do so at the weekend, but any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks Bill Quote
seatkid Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Well your engine isn't that loud then... :) ;) . The ticking is the characteristic sound of the auxillary (or booster) heater starting up on a cold day. try a search on heater and all will be revealed! Grow to love the sound as you generally can't get rid of it (it only comes on in really cold weather...) :blink:look here for instance.. Quote
wjfe Posted February 22, 2005 Author Report Posted February 22, 2005 Thanks for that, Must say this forum has become my favorite reading area at present. Seems to be a lot of very informed people here. Thanks for the info again Bill Quote
Sharanfx Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 This is usually the ERG valve and is noisey on some cars more than others. :D Its all totally normal and nothing to worry about. Quote
